According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, total nonfarm payrolls increased by 177,000 in April, roughly in line with the average monthly increase of 152,000 over the past 12 months.
The Fed's FOMC statement showed that risks to the target remained "roughly balanced" and that labour market conditions were "generally moderating"; the size of the balance sheet was unchanged.
